New on the Road: Arte Cubano

The exhibition Arte Cubano is racing to its first destination, the Crisp Museum at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. It opens August 24 with a opening reception scheduled for September 7 and a number of events, organized in conjunction with the exhibition.

Drawn from two esteemed, private US collections, Arte Cubano features the best in contemporary Cuban art and includes works by José Bedia, Yoan Capote, Diana Fonseca, Esterio Segura, Sandra Ramos, and more. Cuba occupies a unique place in the Western hemisphere, and the nation’s art is so rich in large part due to its diverse cultural blend of African, European, and Latin/Caribbean influences along with its political and social realities.
