Aloha! New on the Road
The exhibition Art of the Aloha Shirt: Keoni of Hawaii, 1938–51 is on its way to its first stop—National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, Texas. Opening September 14, it is the start of the exhibition’s five-year tour going into 2023.
The exhibition explores the history, artistry, and production of Hawaii’s enduring fashion statement. This exhibition of sixty objects includes original textile artwork, productions sketches, vintage shirts, and more. Art of the Aloha Shirt was curated by Dale Hope, a Hawaiian native and second generation veteran of the garment industry who authored the definitive book on the subject, The Aloha Shirt: Spirit of the Islands, in 2000.
